Notification of aerial spraying for Wilding Conifer control in the Wakatipu
Wilding conifers pose a threat to the unique landscape and the native vegetation in the Wakatipu. In accordance with the publicly notified Wakatipu Wilding Conifer Strategy, control of infestations of wilding conifers in the following locations will be undertaken by aerial application of herbicide spray.
Sandhill Creek (northern bank)
Shepherds Terrace near Peats Hut
McCarrons Beach (lower Long Gully)
Shotover River Edge (Pinchers Bluff, Stapletons Terrace, Cableway, Maori Point)
Bobs Cove – southern side of Pt.487
Five Mile Creek
Ben Lomond between One and Two Mile Creeks (above 650m) Queenstown Hill (Middleton Road above the powerlines) Walter Peak
Mt Difficulty Roaring Meg Coal Pit Saddle
The applications will have a buffer zone of 250m between the operation and any dwelling. The applications will commence from 10th December 2015, weather dependent. The operations will be carried out by Department of Conservation on behalf of the Wakatipu Wilding Conifer Control Group (WCG).
